Event description

Description

“Waiting times in A&E are going through the roof. We have got an older population, with increasingly complex needs, but not enough beds so we are seeing more and more cases stuck in A&E.”Dr Chris Moulton, Royal College of Emergency Medicine

Join us for the Urgent and Emergency Care Conference where leading health experts will discuss how recent developments will shape services in the future.

The NHS responds to more than 100 million urgent calls or visits every year, putting tremendous pressure on A&E departments, ambulance trusts and community mental health teams. The Five Year Forward View aims to reorganise and integrate these services in order to improve care and put the health service on a more sustainable footing. As local areas draft Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STPs), the NHS is set to shift towards a more community based model of urgent care. In life-threatening emergencies, patients will be taken to specialist centres where the very best expertise and facilities can increase the chances of survival.

Expect to hear from Dr Chris Moulton, vice president of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and Dr Mark Holland, the president of the Society for Acute Medicine.

Topics covered on the day will include:

  • What are the recurring problems facing A&E departments and how can they be addressed?
  • What are the funding priorities for urgent and emergency care departments?
  • Would changes to the discharge process help relieve the pressure on acute medicine units?
  • What are the latest changes in Government policy and how will they affect urgent care?
  • Could co-located services be the future of A&E departments?

We are pleased to inform you that we have fully funded places available to the public sector, the University of Salford has contributed funding enabling the professional development of healtchare professionals. Contqact our team with any questions here.
