US Cold War Diplomacy in a Hostile Environment: From Indochina to Iran

About this Event
The objective of the series is to engender discussion and debate with both students and the wider public, regarding a broad mix of both contemporary and historical US Foreign Policy and National Security issues. The programme will encompass a series of panels and round-table discussions, by leading scholars in the field.
Our first event of the New Year will take place on 27th January, 2020, at the UCL Institute of the Americas, 51 Gordon Square, London, WC1H 0PN, and will discuss the role of US public diplomacy in Indochina and Iran, during the Early Cold War.
Dr Alex Ferguson (Southampton) will discuss press management and US support to France in Indochina, 1950-54.
Dr Darius Wainwright (LSE) will present his paper on US public diplomacy in Iran, 1953-58.
