Description

IBioIC and Zero Waste Scotland will host an event on 23 May, 2018 which will focus on establishing new value chain opportunities identified from the Scottish Bioresource data model. This model contains the data used in the recently published 'Biorefining potential for Scotland' report produced by Zero Waste Scotland. The event will outline the type of data that can be accessed from the model through the Scottish Bioresource Support Service. Provided by Scottish Enterprise, this is a service which responds to requests on the availability of Scottish feedstocks that can be targeted for further valorisation.

In addition to good networking opportunities, the programme will give an introduction to the Scottish Bioresource data model followed by presentations highlighting exemplar specific opportunities generated across agriculture, aquaculture and food and drink manufacturing and the potential value chains that could be established around them. The programme will further cover waste management policy and logistics as well as an introduction as to how to use techno-economic analysis to evaluate the best use of a particular resource.

The event will be of interest to participants across the whole value chain, linking waste and by-product producers with conversion technology companies and potential product off-takers and users. The intention is that the event will bring together producers of potential feedstocks (e.g. agricultural residues, dairy by-products, food industry waste streams or holders of any organic material) that present an opportunity for further valorisation with companies providing bio-processing technologies capable of converting these resources into higher value marketable products.
