About this event

Family & Education • Education

Democracy thrives when everyone has a voice - and voting is only one way to take part.

Join a free series of conversations on how our democracy works and how we can shape political decisions.

The first session, led by The Constitution Unit (UCL), Operation Black Vote and Unlock Democracy, explores:

  • what democracy is
  • how it emerged
  • its strengths and weaknesses
  • the alternatives

The session will take place at Kensington Central Library. If you’re unable to attend in person, you can join online by booking via this link.

Attendees will be welcome to interact with the panel and ask questions or share their views.

This is meant to be the first session of a series of free conversations on citizenship and political participation.

Speakers:

Alan Renwick

Professor of Democratic Politics and Deputy Director of The Constitution Unit

Department of Political Science, UCL

Rita Patel

Vice Chair, Operation Black Vote

Tom Brake

Director, Unlock Democracy

Please note that this talk will be presented as a hybrid event.

If you’re unable to attend in person, you can join the event online by booking via THIS LINK.
