We are excited to share our upcoming pop-up exhibition, "Used to Use," happening from May 23–25 at The Slowdance in Hackney. This exhibition "Used to Use" explores how everyday objects, once practical and essential, become poetic and curious, carrying stories that linger quietly. These objects, once defined by clear functions, now rest in an enigmatic space where their purposes have faded, but their presence invites interpretation. Umum transforms the exhibition space into a boundary between the past and the unknown, where each object is a whisper of history and a hint of possibility.

Visitors will discover a curated selection of antique silverware and handcrafted 'hint containers,' each offering subtle clues to the original function of these unique objects created in collaboration with ceramist Youyou Wang. This interactive experience invites guests to touch, observe, and interpret, revealing layers of history and meaning.
