This programme is a two day programme, running on 3rd and 4th Novemeber 2016, between 10.00 and 16.00. Attendance to both days is required to secure a place however you will only need a ticket for the first day.
This 2-day workshop will guide small digital and technology businesses thorugh the basics of why user experience (UX) is so important and the place of usability testing in product development, then quickly move you on to designing your own basic research project, testing it in a live environment and learning ways to analyse results. At the end of the 2 days you will be able to run your own user testing for your products, and / or have greater understanding of how user testing can be used and how best to engage research agencies to support your product optmisation.
Day 1: Usability testing (1)
An introduction to the concept of usability testing, why we do it and the ROI.
Discuss different types of usability testing with pros and cons before focussing on moderated testing.
Details the preparation required for usability testing and goes into detail about each element with tips, tricks and suggested suppliers and software.
A group based task is used to create a canvas test plan.
Day 2: Usability testing (2)
Room configuration, and how to moderate without leading, sharing tips and tricks.
Discuss methods for effective task logging and observer engagement.
A group based task is used for people to try moderating, observing and task logging
A retrospective of the group task is conducted and videos shared.
Discusses how to analyse results and present results to clients and stakeholders
Taking place in our newly revamped Space Labs, this is a fully funded 2 day programme for GM-based small digital and technology businesses. The course is suitable for business who have never explored user testing before, but will also provide practical guidance for those who are familiar with user testing but want to more actively incorporate into their product development cycles.
Lunch and tea / coffee will be provided both days, and you are invited to our Friday night pizza and drinks at 5pm Friday to socialise and meet other businesess in our co-working space Launch.
This programme is fully funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
Please note that we can accept 1 application per eligible company. Eligibility criteria are:
- Annual turnover less than €50 million
- Balance sheet less than €43 million
- No other organisation may own more than 25% of the SME
- Greater Manchester Based
- 250 employees or less
- Company must not have attended another fully-funded 12 hour workshop programme provided by The Landing
