Event description

Description

The Day

What are the different patterns of attachment?
How do these patterns affect clients?
How can I use attachment theory in my work?

The day will explore attachment as a survival mechanism that operates in all of us throughout our lives. It will also consider how attachment is linked to feelings (especially anxiety), cognitions, and social relationships. It will focus on how we, as professionals, can understand our clients (whether children or adults) and help them to understand themselves better, and on how we can act as a quasi-attachment figure.

This training day will provide answers to the above questions. It will also stimulate you to think about what you are already doing and how you might adapt it to work more with attachment.

Facilitator: Nina Rye

She formerly taught on the Non-directive Play Therapy MA at York University and now offers supervision for other play therapists and for therapists working with children. She also offers occasional one-off consultations to parents.
