Event description

Description

Most health professionals will be familiar with the principal that coaching is something they might access to develop their own skills. Coaching, however, can also be used as an overarching framework for encounters with patients, helping them to cross the barrier between good intentions and effective action. This practical workshop is suitable for all qualified and experienced clinicians (including doctors, dentists, and nurses) and explores a range of practical tools to support clinical conversations in an effective, efficient and engaging way.

By the end of the one day workshop, delegates will be able to:

  • Define health coaching and explain its benefits to the clinician and patient

  • Identify the structure of key models that support effective coaching

  • Demonstrate through the use of scenarios how to ensure patient autonomy in conversations
