Description

Overview

This masterclass is aimed at teachers who would like to explore different approaches to teaching literacy in primary schools. There will be two different workshops, giving you the opportunity to explore ‘moving stories’ and ‘light painting or light graffiti’. Both workshops will equip you with enough materials to structure and developed several lessons. Both techniques are fun and instantly accessible by all ages and abilities.

‘Moving stories’ uses physical approaches to developing skills and confidence in literacy. The session will explore narrative patterns and environments within a story and workshop movement exercises which can be used to deepen learner engagement and understanding of the key components of story-writing.

Light Graffiti or Light Painting is a magical photographic technique with endless possibilities. It looks highly technical but in reality is very simple to use to create fantastical, dreamlike images almost instantly. During the workshop you will have the opportunity to capture words, pictures and shapes using this playful technique.

Both workshops will encourage learners to continually reflect, evaluate and refine in different ways. They also support the learners to improve their literacy and language skills, along with developing their confidence and creativity.

This is guaranteed to be a fun and playful movement masterclass with resources for teachers to take away.
