Event description
Digital technology in outpatient mental health – how is it working, how could it work, and for who?

About this Event

EPIC is fuelled by the ideas of those who would benefit from using technology for health and wellbeing, sharing these with local business who can develop these ideas into truly useful technological solutions rooted in real life need.We usually host face to face workshops, however we would like to bring our discussions online, on a platform called Ask Cornwall. Ask Cornwall is an online community designed to help people make useful connections and share ideas for better health and care in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Everyone is welcome to join, if you use, deliver health or care services, or have ideas on how we can help improve using technology, we want to hear from you.

The EPIC team have planned a series of workshops, hosted online, via zoom, to discuss the ideas and considerations that have stemmed from the initial Ask Cornwall discussions and to move towards the creation of a working group to champion the use of digital technology in outpatient care, particularly for mental health services.

On 24th September 2020, Rebecca Baines, EPIC Research Associate will lead the session ‘Digital technology in outpatient mental health – how is it working and for who?’

The way mental health care is being delivered and received has changed following the outbreak of Covid-19. Video consultations are increasingly being used to deliver mental health care and support whilst face-to-face delivery is no longer an option due to social distancing. We would like to understand if these alternative methods of delivery are working, and for who.

Could the video consultation be improved in any way?

Are there additional features that could be required for video consultations to be effective and meaningful in mental health?

Are there any benefits to using video consultations after social distancing has been relaxed?

To express your interest for this event, please register your place by clicking the button on this web page.

We will then remind you when the discussion is ready to contribute to, and details on how to join the online event on the 24th September 2020.
