Using GenAI & custom assistants to debug your data - How hard can it be?!

Synopsis

In this session, we give a practical overview of using (and yes - creating!) GenAI assistants to help you - as a data engineer or as a developer - to understand how you use data, what data quality issues you may have and how you can improve both your data and your applications.

The session will include:

* An overview on using GenAI

* Use cases for application development & data usage that GenAI can really help with.

* How you can create “simple” AI bots to integrate into code management or database systems to really use the power of AI - for reviews, generating code & tests, identifying data issues etc.

* Lastly, show a simple example AI bot (for which the code is provided) that allows you to review code, databases and, using natural language, to identify and fix issues on the fly without being data experts.

It will be a live demo, so we can review use-cases, see how the GenAI bot responds and walk through an iterative development process to resolve them

About the speaker

Tim is an old friend of the BCS SM-ITAM group, having presented to us many times before.

He has worked in the IT industry for well over 25 years with most of that time being spent in the CM, SCM, and DevOps related verticals.

For the last 15 years or so, he has been splitting his time between consultancy, enterprise/system architecture, coding and delivery related roles. He currently works as a Principal Consultant for Contino, a Cognizant Company where he helps clients realise their Cloud and DevOps-related journeys. Prior to that he worked as DevOps Principal/Lead at AND Digital, HCL as a senior DevOps architect and has helped clients like Virgin Media, the NCA, IKEA, Bank of Ireland and BP in their Agile/DevOps transformations.

Tim is an avid petrol-head who likes to spend his free time restoring classic British cars and runs several car clubs, organising events at both a local and national level. He has quite a collection of rare cars which include TVRs, Marcos, Lotus and Lanchester makes.
