1) GIS Skills - making maps
The aim is to develop GIS skills and confidence, starting with the basics and progressing to some more complex activities.

  • The ArcGIS Online interface.
  • Readily available maps and data:
    Crime; earthquakes; plate boundaries; deprivation; cities…
  • Sources of data:
    Living Atlas, ONS; Ordnance Survey; www.gov.uk; Environment Agency; CEH; etc
  • Making your own data:
    On fieldwork; in class; the journey to school…

2) Curriculum planning - using GIS with your students. Planning the integration of GIS into your lessons over the whole year:

  • Term by term
  • Year group by year group

  • Made resources you can use with students
  • Made a plan to integrate GIS into each year group's learning each term.

You will need a fully charged laptop. An iPad/tablet will not be very useful.
