Event description

Description

Target audience: Teachers EYFS – Y6 (and beyond!)

Course leader: Alison Bailey, Pathfinder consultant trainer

A number of children struggle to develop effective inference skills to support fluent reading. Pictures can be used to teach the component skills efficiently and enjoyably in whole class lessons as well as in small group sessions and interventions. This session will:

  • demonstrate a variety of approaches to the use of pictures for developing inference skills
  • show how to support the development of children’s language around inference at all ages
  • model the transfer of children’s growing confidence and competence from pictures to written texts
  • provide attendees with a bank of pre-prepared resources to use in class as reading ‘starters’.

NOTES:

There is plenty of parking at the school.

Please check the Pathfinder Website for all booking conditions including payment / refunds / cancellations.
