Description

Having a wide range of cutting-edge books at your fingertips is the first step to teaching engaging and exciting literacy lessons. But which books are going to engage your class? And how do get the best out of these texts? This training will answer these questions!

This practical workshop will give your staff the skills to explore high-quality texts with their classes through drama, discussion, writing and art. This training is ideal for schools who want to engage their children with a range of challenging texts and bring high-quality literature into the classroom.

In this practical workshop, staff will:
• Become familiar with a range of high-quality texts suitable for KS1 & KS2
• Learn strategies for exploring texts through drama and discussion
• Explore how texts can be used to inspire writing and learning across the curriculum

Attendees will also get free teaching materials and resources to support this work in their schools!

Who is this training for?

This course has been designed for primary school teachers and will support them to use new and exciting literature in their literacy lessons. This training is especially suited to NQTs and teachers wanting to know more about using picture books.

How many places are there for this course?

There are 20 places for this training event. Smaller venues offer the opportunity for a more personal training experience. You get more time with Stefan and he can get to know you too!


When will the venue be confirmed?

The venue will be confirmed 4 weeks before the date of the course. It will be a high quality venue in an around Headingley, Leeds.


What time do we start and finish?

The course will start at 9.00 and will finish at 3.30 - a normal school day (without playground duty...)


What about lunch?

Lunch will be included in the price of the course. Tea, coffee, refreshments and other snacks will be available too. You will not go hungry or thirsty!


Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes - that's no problem! Just be aware that catering will be organised in advance so you might have to eat what the other person has ordered if you change at the last minute!


What is the minimum number of attendees?

There is a miniumum number of 6 attendees for this course to run. Don't worry though! If it is postponed or rearranged, you will get a full refund.
