About this event

During the training you will:

  • Consider communication, Priorities for Care and care plans
  • Discuss the indications for using a syringe pump when working with palliative care patients
  • Gain practical knowledge of setting up of a syringe pump, site placement and equipment
  • Have an opportunity to practise using a syringe pump
  • Understand the different types of drugs used in syringe pumps for palliative patients
  • Explore how to safely monitor the syringe pump infusion
  • Consider potential problems that can occur when using syringe pumps

Competency needs to be demonstrated in a clinical setting. Nurses will need to be observed in their place of work by a person qualified to certify in that environment.

Directions and Visitor Parking to the Education & Conference Centre

Car Parking: Delegates and visitors to the Education & Conference Centre should park at the Babraham Road Park and Ride located next to the hospice and use the footpath to the Centre. Car parking at the Park and Ride is free for up to 18 hours. The car park at the Hospice is reserved for patients, families and Blue Badge holders only.

By Public Transport/Taxi: Cambridge railway station is approximately 3 miles from the Hospice. Taxis are available outside the entrance to the station or buses run from the city centre/railway station/Addenbrookes to the Babraham Park & Ride. Once at the Park & Ride, walk towards the vehicular entrance to access the pedestrian footpath to the hospice. http://cambridgeparkandride.info/babrahamroad.shtml

Cycling: There are secure bicycle racks at the front of the hospice.

What's the refund policy?

If you cancel your registration 14 days prior to the start of the course, you will not be entitled to a refund, however you may transfer your booking to an alternative course. For non-attendees we reserve the right to charge a fee of £20.00, however extenuating circumstances will be taken into consideration when applying the cancellation fee.
