Using Technology to Improve Welfare & Performance in Broilers
Tue 8 November 2016, 10:30 – 14:30 GMT
A talk & farm walk with David Speller
Join poultry farmer David Speller to learn about how technology is used to stabilise shed environments, improve bird health & welfare, including the potential to reduce the use of medication and enhance farm manager knowledge.
David Speller won Farmers Weekly Poultry Farmer of the Year in 2009. He has grown the Applied Group providing farm management consultancy, project management, farm design and contract farming to now farm over 3 million birds.
David Speller’s unit at Lower Farm was the world’s first computer welfare scored broiler farm when it was first developed in 2014. Innovative technologies are utilised to monitor bird welfare which allows appropriate action to be taken to continually enhance performance and profitability. Applied can now also remotely monitor and advise broiler farms wherever they are located using their OPTIfarm service.
Join us at Lower Farm on 8th November 2016 to hear David Speller talk about his journey into broiler farming and see how he and the Applied team now use the very latest in available technologies to keep at the very forefront of the broiler industry.
