Event description
Refugee Week Event: How can lawyers, charities and NGOs work together to support refugees and migrants through the legal system?

About this Event

Join YLAL Midlands in Birmingham to hear from expert speakers about how the law can be used to protect the rights of refugees and migrants, and to consider how lawyers, charities and NGOs can work together to support refugees and migrants going through the legal system.

We are delighted to be joined by the following speakers:

- Ahmed Aydeed, director of public law at Duncan Lewis. Ahmed's practice in public law and human rights includes asylum, international protection, EU law, nationality law and administrative detention.

- Charlotte Rodriguez, refugee and migrant support practitioner at The Children's Society. Charlotte works with children and young people as they go through the asylum appeals process and where their age is disputed by local authorities.

- Sian Drinkwater, community organiser at Migrants Organise, a platform where refugees and migrants organise for power, dignity and justice. Sian is involved in a number of projects with different community groups, focusing on a variety of issues affecting migrants in those areas.

The event will be hosted at the offices of Irwin Mitchell at Imperial House, 31 Temple Street, Birmingham, B2 5DB.

We look forward to seeing you there!
