Learn how VR is being used as a training tool to increase teachers' understanding of childhood trauma and therefore impact their responses.
About this event
Overview:
How can we keep children in school?
Are we listening to young people and children when they need it the most?
Are we responding in a trauma-informed way?
Join our key speakers to hear about how Virtual Reality (VR) is used as a training tool to ensure primary and secondary school teachers have a greater understanding and awareness of the impact of trauma and therefore improve their approach and respond in a trauma-informed way.
Join us as we take a walk in the footsteps of children and young people living in an at-risk or abusive environment and explore how VR encourages practitioners and individuals working directly with vulnerable children to see incidents through the eyes of the child. Thus, helping them understand and empathise with children and young people at risk.
Our session will share the findings of several of our case studies and allow an exclusive preview of a series of our immersive storytelling films.
“Powerful as ever. I think some will find the Aisha footage quite disturbing, especially in VR, but it’s the brutal reality of what we’re dealing with at times.”
Chief Superintendent, Metropolitan Police.
Why Virtual Reality?
Our Virtual Reality programme is a technology-enabled behaviour change tool, designed to support the team around a child or young person in understanding emotions, trauma and potential triggers, so that they can support, care and guide them effectively.
Born out of first-hand experience of the social care system, this powerful approach quickly and effectively delivers the knowledge, understanding and empathy that can otherwise take years to develop.
Virtual Reality leads to accelerated learning.
Our 2020 findings show that VR learners are :
- 4x faster
- 4x more emotionally connected
- 4x more focused
- AND 275% more confident
