What will I learn:
You'll learn about England's freeports, with a particular focus on the only one with the North East, the Teesside Freeport. The biggest within England covering 4,500 acres.
A freeport provides tax and customs benefits within particularly specified zones. The benefits have been created to help businesses to grow (tax benefits) and ease their international supply chains (customs benefits). In particular, utilising a customs zone within the freeport could have benefits for businesses who:
- Import goods which are later exported
- Import goods which undergo processing before either been sold in the UK or internationally
