From 6.30pm on Thursday 7th July, you are invited to The Warehouse (One Crown Place, 19 Sun Street, London EC2A 2FJ) to view the creative results from a series of workshops hosted by St John’s Waterloo in which students from Accumulate, the Art School for the Homeless, have explored their personal ideas of an ideal world.

The students have been supported over 12 weeks by architecture firm Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM), appointed to lead on the redevelopment of Waterloo’s Elizabeth House by developer HB Reavis. They have also had input from music, textile, visual arts and creative writing tutors for an all-encompassing creative learning and exhibition experience.

St John’s Waterloo has a long association with homelessness and with its own visionary £5.2m restoration project underway, thought people affected by homelessness should also have an opportunity to work with architects to consider what makes for a perfect place.

At 7.30pm scholarships will be awarded to selected Accumulate participants so that they can continue their creative education and study, fully funded, on Access to Higher Education courses in Fine Art, Design and Digital Media, and Fashion at Morley College.

The Utopia showcase celebrates the achievements of a group of people living in hostels and temporary accommodation who have increased their self-confidence, wellbeing and sense of personal value - helping them become more positive and make better decisions for their futures. Come and meet them, hear their stories and see how creativity has made a difference to their lives.

The Utopia workshops have been funded by generous grants from The Foyle Foundation and Arts Council England. The exhibition has been sponsored and designed by AHMM.
