Description

Conference Introduction

This half-day seminar has been organised to celebrate the 50th anniversary of UTSG. Three keynote speakers will reflect on some of the many and varied advances in knowledge that UTSG members have been involved in over the past 50 years, the issues that have been addressed, the progress in practice and policy that has resulted and the continued relevance of transport research.

This will be followed by a panel session with senior executives from the Department for Transport, Highways England, Social Research Associates and CIHT that will discuss current and future challenges and what and how research can help address those needs.

The audience will consist of members of the research community, and senior representatives from consultancy, policymakers, practitioners and research facilitators.

“We hope that this event will showcase the substantial contribution that researchers from the UTSG community have made to transport policy and practice over many years. But we also want to look forward, to the research that is needed to underpin transport futures. The event will also give attendees the opportunity to network with fellow transport professionals.”

--------Professor Tom Rye, Chair of UTSG - Director of the Transport Research Institute at Edinburgh Napier University
