Event description

Description

The UWL Peer Mentoring Service is currently looking for volunteer mentors for the new academic term. Mentors are required to meet, one-to-one, on a regular basis with a student working at a level below them. Whether you found your time at university challenging or relatively straight forward, your experience could really help a student facing similar challenges now.

To support you with the mentoring process we offer free mentoring training and on-going supervision. By acting as a mentor you can have a real and tangible impact on a UWL student today, whilst also gaining experience and skills that will benefit you and your future career.

The mentor training will cover:

  • What is Mentoring?
  • The Peer Mentoring Service aims
  • What does a mentor offer a mentee?
  • What does a mentor NOT offer a mentee?
  • Confidentiality and Boundaries
  • Communication
  • Commitment of participants
