Event description

Description

What do you profess? This experiential workshop, facilitating some personal action inquiry, will help you reflect on what you are currently making of your professional-self.

It will provide an opportunity to presence your professing essence - especially you at work, drawing on U Theory, to distil your ‘prof-essence’.

Are you curious about your professional identity, and how you might be assisted to integrate your deepest values and beliefs, the subjectivity in your objectivity, and your most profound self-knowledge (much of which might be awaiting your presencing)?

Do you wonder about how you might better align your thinking, and hearting, and souling, with your doing and being - and becoming? Bringing your whole self, more fully, to your work in the world?

- Make some inroads into the big questions: Who am I? What is my work? (The who, what and why in my professing, in my work in the world).

- Explore the essence of your professing, the professional-self you seek to presence, and the aspirational 'third horizon' of future consciousness that draws you forward.

- Engage your artistry of possibility; tap the power of poetry; burnish your ethical compass

“Each of us is an artist of our days; the greater our integrity and awareness,

the more original and creative our time will become” (John O’Donohue)

This will be a mostly personal journey, but in good, like-spirited, company – with others on a similar path, with a similar yearning.

A half-day workshop, at The Stables, Centre for Stewardship, Falkland Estate, Falkland – on Thursday February 1st, from 1pm to 5pm.

Facilitated by Ian Wight, Caren Gilbert and Alastair Wyllie.

The emphasis will be on experiential self-discovery, but with an opportunity for sharing any emerging learning about your professional-self – a gentle ‘professing’ of sensed essence.

Your excursion around the U (and around You@Work) will include visiting the following places:

- Discerning Professional I-dentity – Who am I, professionally, in practice, in my work in the world (role, function, sense of self at work – my ‘professional-self’)

- The Deep Caring in my Professing – What are my core/bedrock values – the constituents of my ‘prof-essence’ - that is a distillation of the meaning in my work?

- The Story I Tell Myself (of ‘What I Profess’) – How am I showing up? How am I presencing my professional-self? The integration of my knowing, doing and being – the praxis beyond my practice.

- The Story I’m Prepared to Share – to ‘publicly profess’, to reach for the authentic professional ‘we’: What is congruent with who we are, what we care about, how we show up, and what we are doing, in practice? The presencing (and the absencing).
