This interview skills course covers the practical skills required in carrying out values-based recruitment to ensure the process is productive and focused to the service needs and meets the values and ethos of the organisation. It covers the different stages of the recruitment process as well as how to conduct an interview effectively to ensure that delegates can choose the most appropriate person for the job.

The course covers:

• Understand what is meant by and the importance of value-based recruitment

• How to identify the values, skills, knowledge, and attitudes important to your organisation and using these to inform your recruitment process

• How to ensure advertisements convey the organisations values and ways of working

• Create a values-based template of typical interview questions and explore these can be used

• To check for suitability of the candidate

• Best practice to record the complete recruitment process and how to evidence against KLOEs

• How to select candidates to interview stage – the sifting process

• Unconscious v’s conscious bias during the sifting and selection process

• Assessment and evaluation of using the process

• Create an action plan

Understanding:

• Identify the expectations, values, behaviours and attitudes which are essential to work in adult social care. Ensuring the candidate understands the job role and expectations of the interview

• Carry out a review of current recruitment process – what’s working, what’s not working

• How to create a values-based advertisement and the key components of a values-based recruitment and section process

• Creation of a questions which align to your organisation’s values, and techniques toolbox

• How to apply values-based recruitment to identify whether candidates have the organisational values and attributes required

• Competence skills-based interviewing – a comparison to values-based option.

• Using effective interview techniques to identify suitability of an candidates against your values to work

• How to review effectiveness of the process based on they style, questions used and outcomes of candidates ongoing performance.

• Initial remote interview process and how to conduct this to ensure the candidate aligns to organisations requirements
