Valuing Nature: Can a price on nature help its conservation?
Thu 20 October 2016, 17:30 – 20:30 BST
Modern methods of conservation involve putting a price tag on nature and the services it provides to us.
Is this the only way to conserve nature in a modern and material world, or is it the first step towards its exploitation and destruction?
The Grantham Centre for Sustainable Futures, Sheffield Institute for International Development and the University's Green Economy Network are hosting a seminar event in which four experts will be sharing with the public the latest thinking on one of the biggest and most relevant questions in the conservation of nature.
Bill Adams – Professor of Conservation - The University of Cambridge
Owen Hewlett – Chief Technical Officer of The Gold Standard
Lorraine Maltby – Professor of Environmental Biology at The University of Sheffield
Dan Brockington (Chair) – Director of the Sheffield Institute for International Development
Please join us for a chance to hear our experts speak and for questions from the audience.
The seminar will last from 6 - 8 pm
Food and drinks will be provided (5.30 to 6pm).
