About this Event
We are very pleased to announce that two more dates for our on line tours of Van Gogh House.
Devised in response to restrictions during the pandemic, our virtual tour means that we can now welcome visitors from the comfort of their own homes, from anywhere in the world to 87 Hackford Road, in South London.
Van Gogh lived here as a young man from 1873 -4, when he was working in London at the art dealers Goupil and Cie in Covent Garden. Although a short time in his life, the experiences he had while he stayed here, had a profound influence on the artist.
The 45 minute presentation explores aspects of Van Gogh's life in London, as well as the history of this fascinating building and some of it's other residents. It is lead by the Architect and Artistic director of Van Gogh House: Livia Wang, with Janet Currier, Van Gogh House's Special Project Manager with contributions from our volunteer tour guides who have special research interestes in art history and 19th Century domestic and social history.
The tour includes a journey through the rooms in the house and a look at some of the objects unearthed during its renovation. There is a charge for the tour and each ticket generates much needed income towards our running costs and educational programme.
