About this event
On this one-day workshop, you will explore the painter Van Gogh's painting techniques to create your own Post-Impressionist painted still life.
You will discuss and practise various painterly techniques and study some of Van Gogh's different works before starting on your own composition.
You'll be guided through the process and will be encouraged to develop your own colour palette to work from.

Richard Kitson
Richard Kitson is a figurative painter based in Barnsley and also teaches Fine Art at Barnsley Sixth Form College. Richard has over seven year’s teaching experience and in addition to his college work teaches private students at his Barnsley studio and delivers demonstrations and workshops throughout Yorkshire. Richard has exhibited in the Uk and internationally and in 2018 participated in Sky Arts Portrait of the Year.

Who is the Workshop for?
The workshop is suitable for complete beginners or those who would like to progress from drawing to using paints in their work. The course will be taught in a step-by-step way with tutor advice and guidance to build your confidence in drawing & painting.
Do I Need to Bring Anything?
Some materials will be provided including easels, basic drawing materials & paper to work on. Students will need to bring some canvas paper or a canvas board to work on and some oil or acrylic paints to work with. Students can also bring a photograph, object, or image to work from for their composition.

Course Booking Terms and Conditions
Workshop and course bookings can be cancelled and refunded up until 7 days before the scheduled start date. Our workshops support the work we do as a charity, and because materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the workshop date. Please note that Eventbrite's booking fee is non-refundable.
Bookings cannot be transferred between courses however bookings can be transferred to another person in the event that you are unable to attend on the day.
In the event that The Art House needs to cancel a workshop for any reason, for example, due to tutor illness or if lockdown measures are put back in place your ticket will be refunded in full.
