Van Morrison is undoubtedly Belfast’s best-known musician and among the most-distinguished musicians of our times. Come on this gentle two-hour walking tour, to explore Van Morrison’s East Belfast. Van released a new album in June this year, Remembering Now, and is having a busy year of concerts and touring, during which he marked his 80th birthday in August.
This walking tour guides you around the area Van Morrison grew up in. You will see the street he lived on as a young boy, the parks he played in, the primary school he attended, The Hollow, and much more, as we walk streets and see spots that you’ll recognise the names of from his lyrics.
The tour will also reference the area’s history and industrial heritage and several other musicians and writers with links to this part of the city. Music clips will be played along the way.
Each person on the tour will receive a special 'Mystic of the East' booklet containing information and a map of the area and places important to Van Morrison, published by Eastside Partnership.
Meet outside Café Nero at Eastside Visitor Centre on Newtownards Road for 11am. The tour will conclude back there for 1pm.
This tour is part of the Sound of Belfast Festival, curated by the Oh Yeah Music Centre.
