Description

The College of Podiatry is delighted to announce the 2019 launch of its new Vascular Module.

This 2-day module is aimed at all podiatrists and any other clinicians who assess the lower limbs, to help support safe, confident and proactive vascular assessments / diagnosis, clinical decision-making and appropriate referrals (both cardiovascular and vascular).

Attendees will be refreshing their existing knowledge around lower limb arterial disease, as well as observing and practising hands-on peripheral arterial assessment techniques, based on best practice guidance NICE & IWGDF. The module will be based on the PAD competency dimension, focusing on foot & leg pulse assessment, Doppler handling & interpretation, ABPI and toe pressure assessment.

The module is also designed to be relevant to any podiatrists wanting to strengthen their vascular knowledge & skills, whether newly graduated, experienced, in independent practice, industry, NHS or universities.

It will include:

- A reading list

- Supporting theory

- Demonstrations of technique and common errors

- Hands on practise (incl. use of Doppler & manual sphyg cuff for ABPI)

- Case studies

- Real Doppler waveforms

- ABPI technique OSCE
