Professor Grace’s lecture will focus on the journey and development of Catholic education in recent years with a focus on the present cultural and political situation that may threaten the mission integrity of Catholic schools in various ways. This is an important opportunity for all Catholic school leaders, teachers, clergy, diocesan officers and parents to reflect on how to protect Catholic education for the future.
Background on Gerald Grace
Professor Gerald Grace, KSG, KHS has researched and written about the key issues of Faith, Mission and Challenge in Catholic education internationally for the last 20 years. He has worked to establish the field of Catholic Education Studies as an important research and scholarly discipline across the world. In 2007 he edited the 2nd volume, International Handbook of Catholic Education. He is currently Visiting Professor, Director of CRDCE and Editor if International Studies in Catholic Education based at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, London’s new Catholic University. He is a prolific researcher, speaker and writer in the field. In 2007 he edited the first ever International Handbook of Catholic Education (presented to Pope Benedict) and he is also the Editor of the new journal International Studies in Catholic Education.
