Victoria County History, Shropshire Annual Meeting

25 October 2025, 2.00-4.30pm

Central Baptist Church, Shrewsbury

Following the pattern of recent years, we shall start at 2.00 pm with the annual report, followed by an intermission with tea and cake and then at 3.00pm we have our annual lecture:

Dr Hannah Robb

Women's Work in Shrewsbury, 1400-1700

Cost for lecture £7.00

Although women worked independently as seamstresses or sellers, or assisted their husbands, it is rarely recorded. Dr Robb will look at the evidence in Shrewsbury using guild records, apprenticeship records, petitions and depositions to attempt to build a picture of women's work and the role of the guilds.
