Venezuelan Grill Charity Event
Sat 10 June 2017, 19:00 – 22:00 BST
Following the success of our "Venezuela in a Snapshot" event this time our charity event comes bigger and bolder in the form of a delicious Venezuelan Grill with vegetarian and vegan options.
We'll be serving authentic Venezuelan meats, salads and more in true Venezuelan style. We'll have raffles with fantastic prizes donated by local businesses and beautiful wine, all to raise money for the abandoned and suffering animals in Venezuela.
What will your money buy?
By coming to this event you'll be helping abandoned, suffering and homeless animals with food, medicines, vet care and shelter in Venezuela - £10 will feed a dog for a week.
What charities are we helping?
In order to make our money go further and really make a difference we've decide to concentrate our help into one charity called Peludos Protegidos Mérida located in the region of Mérida
With the money raised from our February event we are feeding 25 community dogs that previously did not have food to eat and where literally dying of starvation, we paid for 3 nourturing operations and their medicines, we bought vitamins, flea shampoo, healing and antiscpetic creams and sprays, fresh eggs, paid for vet care, dog bowls, shelter and we are waiting to take one of the dogs to the vet for a tumor extraction operation.
We also sent £100 to another charity to buy 2 weeks worth of food for 90 cats and dogs and another £100 to help a smaller charity to feed buy a month worth of food and vitamins for 6 cats and dogs.
Of course, the more money we raise the more we can help. It will break my heart to run out of money and say to this charity that I won't be able to send them money to buy food fot these 25 homeless dogs, so WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!
These are some of the homeless dogs Peludos Protegidos Merida are helping with your donations
Some of the dogs having their only meal of the day sponsored with your donation. By the way they all have names but I can't seem to remember all of them yet, shame on me!!!!
Why are the animals suffering in Venezuela?
Earlier this month Venezuela was officially declared a dictatorship country. 20 years of corruption, bad management and embezzlement has led to country into a humanitarian crisis never seen in Venezuela.
This led the country to have the highest inflation in the world, currently at 1400%. The dilapidation of the national economy by the regime means Venezuela right now does not produce food or medicines, and the regimen in its inefficiency is not capable to import the food and medicines required.
People are not able to afford food or medicines, when they can find it. Of course this crisis made many families to abandon their pets creating an ever greater problem when added in the existing stray animals Venezuela always had.
Right now animal charities are trying to cope with the influx of cases and the little output of adoptions. Every day they need more and more food, medicines and vet care to keep up. With an inflation of 1400% and extreme food shortages they need as much money as possible to be able to feed, cure and provide a safe place to sleep to these poor animals that desperately need our help!!
If you care about animals or simply care about a living creature, then please come to our event and help with your donation!
