Wild Venison Butchery Workshop
Part of the Exmoor Dark Skies Festival
Join us this Autumn at Root Project for a hands-on day of wild butchery. Part of the Exmoor’s Dark Skies Festival, it’s a chance to slow down, get stuck in and make the most of the season’s long evenings.
You’ll be working with Darren from Exmoor Game School to break down a whole, wild, fully traceable Exmoor deer, taking it from carcass to joints, steaks, mince and burgers. It’s a great chance to get to grips with all the handiwork and skills involved.
We’ll round off the day by cooking and sharing a wild venison supper together, and if the skies are clear, we’ll eat outside under Exmoor’s incredible stars.
Come dressed for the weather. The workshop will take place outdoors and in a covered barn if needed, but there’s no heating, and late afternoons and evenings in Autumn can be chilly.
About Exmoor Game School
Darren set up the school as a not-for-profit to help children understand where their food comes from. For every adult place booked, a young person will be offered a free spot on one of his courses learning how to skin, butcher, and cook wild food.
