Event description

Description

Verve Poetry Festival are thrilled to present Hera Lindsay Bird's only Midlands event on her whirlwind tour

of the UK and Ireland. Don't miss this rare appearance from the poet Carol-Ann Duffy described as:

'Without doubt the most arresting and original new young poet - on page and in performance.'

This is a must see event.

Also performing are local poets, Jenna Clake and Hannah Swings!

Hera is a writer from Wellington, New Zealand. Her debut poetry collection 'Hera Lyndsay Bird' was

released this year by Penguin UK, and became a cult bestseller in her home country after her poems

'Monica Geller' and 'Keats is Dead so Fuck me From Behind' went viral. She won the 2017

Sarah Broom award and the Ockham Best First Poetry Book Award. Her newst poems can be found

in the excellent pamphlet 'Pamper Me to Hell & Back', recently published by smith/doorstop.

Jenna is studying for a PHD in Creative Writing at University of Birmingham. Her excellent debut collection of poetry, Fortune Cookie, won the Melita Hume Prize in 2016 - 'At once humorous, poignant and unsettling, this collection considers how we might make sense of a world that really makes no sense at all.'

Hannah is a writer, performance poet, visual artist, and teacher that works across a kaleidoscope of platforms. She is currently studying for a Masters in Creative Writing at University of Birmingham, where she has coached their uniSLAM team to victory. She is also the winner of CoachesSLAM 2018. Hannah's first poetry collection will be published by Verve Poetry Press in November 2018.
