Event description

Description

OGSOC are excited to announce a screening of the film "Vessel".

This independent documentary tells the story of a female Dutch doctor who, frustrated with anti-abortion laws faced by women around the world, decided to confront the problem herself by creating a mobile abortion clinic onboard a ship. What starts as a one woman operation transforms into an extraordinary project, providing abortion care and advice to women living in some of the most staunchly anti-abortion countries globally.

'Vessel' premieried at the South by Southwest film festival in 2014 and has gone on to garner international critical acclaim. Described as "a deeply moving portrait" by the Hollywood Reporter and "provocative" by the New York Times 'Vessel' is compulsory viewing for anyone interested in the reproductive rights of women, and the lengths they will go to when those rights are denied them.

Please join us at 19:30 on November 23rd in the Khaled Said Room at the SU for a screening of the movie followed by a short discussion afterwards. Everyone is welcome, healthcare students and non-healthcare students alike!

Portfolio certificates will be provided and the event is free to attend.
