"I learned a lot. I was particularly impressed with the activity-based nature of the course, which in my view is the best way to learn. I was able to quickly apply what I learned in my daily job and better understand how to work with product managers, developers and UX designers." Denise Law, Community Editor @ The Economist
Join us for a three-day intensive and interactive workshop in which we develop your product ideas using the latest thinking in product management. Fresh from spending time working with the world's largest companies, our instructors will guide you through how you can change the way you work with your products.
You'll spend time working on an idea of your choosing, taking it through a process to explore it's desirability, viability and feasibility. Ideas are free, so we expect you to turn up with at least one to try out. We'll help you take your idea through the same process we teach our successful enterprise clients, figuring out how you can validate your assumptions and prove the desirability, viability and feasibility of it to your key stakeholders, including your customers.
Who should attend?
Anybody working in product, wanting to learn more about how to successfully manage and validate an idea for a product or service. We see roles as diverse as Head of Product, Product Manager, Product Owner, people from marketing, social media and a business background. Because we focus on the job-to-be-done, not the job title, the course is accessible and useful to anybody working to get products and services into the hands of the customer.
Day 1 – Understanding Your Customer
The first workshop is all about understanding your customer and what they are trying to achieve. We work towards developing a persona and a plan to validate that in the real world.
Day 2 – Exploring Your Market
This workshop focuses on the market, and how you plan to make sure that your idea can exist and fund itself in the real world. We look at different business models and use the Lean Canvas to prepare your pitch.
Day 3 – Bringing It All Together
In the final day of the Labs, you'll be expected to consolidate your learning and build something to test your idea with. This could be a prototype or a plan to run an experiment to learn some more. Whatever it is, we'll be handing out a prize for the best pitch and also answering any outstanding questions from the course.
In the Labs, you'll be pitching your ideas each day, with the aim of winning the Lab Pitch Prize for the best presented idea.
