About this Event

The Vibes n Pressure Shubeen, voted one of the best nights out in London, our flagship event has returned to Dalston, every second Friday night at the Jago (formerly passing clouds). After our sell-out First night back we continue the Vibes with the next event taking place on Friday 11th October. On this night we will be celebrating the feminine energy with an all-female lineup.

The night always begins with Nyabinghi Drumming and will include performances from these amazing women...

Terri Walker - One of the UK’s leading soul artists, nominated for four MOBO awards and a Mercury Music Prize. Constantly touring, writing and releasing music she is a living legend and testament to hard work and talent combined. As well as working with so many amazing artists. Terri is the undisputed queen of UK soul music. Check out her latest release here (https://open.spotify.com/album/1s4GEfU92gnhctPX7DBq1M?si=k_CdUwBxSEOj9eu3PPZq_g )

Teshay Makeda - The Empress Of Roots Soul, is a South London based singer, songwriter and performer. Teshay is stylistically in a league of her own and already receiving a lot of attention by music lovers and tastemakers. A definite future star. Teshay's Rastafarian upbringing has naturally rooted her eclectic musical style, which consists of Reggae, Soul and RnB. She is also the hostess of our monthly shubeen.

VVN - Vivienne is a singer/songwriter, spoken word artist and actress, as well as a published poet. She is a neo-soul, R&B, Jazz and Blues lover as well as Reggae and Indie. She has a passion for her culture and believes in living her life as a melody and has a philosophy of living in love and music as the only way to truly fulfil herself; lost in expression is the only time she truly feels alive.

DJ Ayito - Our main room DJ for the night started her journey in the UK reggae scene as a sound woman for her sound system crew, Unit 137. Her love for the music quickly motivated her share that passion with the world. She has played in many festivals around Europe and continues to grow and grow. Ayito hopes that by following her dream and passion as a female selector in a male dominated industry she can motivate and empower women to follow her footsteps .

The House band is Natty’s legendary band The Rebelship so u never know which event he might jump on and give an impromptu performance. The Live Music will kick off at 8.30pm and tickets sell fast so make sure you arrive early. Upstairs Selectors are Samurai and I-JAH playing all kinds of Roots and Culture in a more chilled setting where u can purchase alkaline-friendly vegan food provided by Rainforest cafe portobello.

Vibes n Pressure are proud sponsors of the ERASE Foundation, who support schools and orphanages in Africa.

A simple way to look at our philosophy is the concept of taking higher energy consciousness (Vibes) and applying it (Pressure) so as to affect positive change. Key Rastafari principles of balance, equal rights and unity and are at the foundation of this movement.
