Event description
Vickers MG Collection & Research Association collection open day where people can see the full Vickers collection and maybe some firing!

About this event

NOTE: For this event, capacity is limited to ten places; however, if restrictions are lifted on 21 June, a further ten tickets will be released. A waiting list has been enabled to pre-register for these tickets.

The Vickers MG collection is focussed on the use of the Vickers machine gun and as an extensive range of weapons and accessories that show how the gun was used in British and international service. We have an extensive library and archive that people are able to use while they're here as well.

All visits are hosted and you'll have the opportunity to talk to us about the Vickers and its service as well as many other connected aspects. Get your questions ready!

You'll also be able to pick up anything you've bought from our online shop: Either pre-order and select 'collection' to save on postage or send us a message if you'd like something but want to pay on the day (we can now accept cards, cash and bank transfers).

All visits are supported on a donation basis so please do be prepared to support our not-for-profit Association as well as you can. If we're able to give you a blank firing demonstration, please be aware that ammunition and the running costs on the gun can be as much as £1 per round and we soon get through that with a Vickers! All of the money goes back into funding the collection and improving it and the archive. We always have plenty of projects we're investing in.

For security reasons, we only send the full address to attendees a few days before the event; however, we know you need to plan travelling times and you should base it on travelling to Junction 15 of the M4, Swindon, Wiltshire.
