Victoria Crowe OBE, FRSE, RSA - From the Beginning - RSA Gillies Lecture
Event Information
Description
With the hindsight of two recent Retrospective exhibitions of her work, Victoria Crowe OBE, FRSE, RSA traces the development of her painting practise from student days in London and early influences, through to living and working in Scotland and Italy. Events within her personal journey and contact with many influential thinkers, poets and musicians are put into the context of her developing work.
The Sir William Gillies Bequest Lecture has been presented by the Academy since 1978 through the generous legacy of the late Sir William Gillies RSA. As a pioneer of contemporary art it is fitting that his legacy not only provides this series of public lectures, but also supports a number of artists’ opportunities presented through the Academy’s programme, helping to enable emerging artists to research and develop their practice, and for the Academy to achieve its remit of supporting new talent.
Doors will open at 6.45pm and entry will be via the RSA backdoor, which is located in between the RSA building and the National Galleries building on the Mound.
