We believe music, above all, facilitates human connection in all forms: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. We strive for our concert spaces to become interactive installations, where audiences and players contribute to music-making and sound generating alike, via our new instrument which is to be played by all: The Digital Sine Bell.
We are ViDaNova Ensemble: David Balica (Composer, Bass-baritone, Trinity Laban graduate), Anna Silver (Inventor, Design engineering, Imperial College London) and Vivien Zoltan (Soprano, Model, Trinity Laban graduate).
Embark with us on a journey of multiple musical genres and styles, with new chamber ensemble works from emerging contemporary-classical composers David Balica and Zsolt Balint, as well as classics from Pauline Oliveros, Laurie Anderson among others.
At Imperial College, Anna designed the instrument by implementing a system of potentiometers and actuators processing human input into soundwaves. Different settings generate different drones and pitches.
When emitting sound, the instrument also vibrates by using Haptic feedback technology: this allows players to also feel the vibrations of the sound. We want all individuals, no matter how they experience music, to feel integrated within concert settings and partake with us in music-making, either through sound or vibration.
We are delighted to have won the 2025 Mercer's Innovation Award with our project, as well as to be collaborating with Maverick Projects for the evening.
Let yourself be taken away by our unique cross-over of sound, friction and science. Beautiful things will occur down at the Chapel.
