About this event

Always a winning concert, with a combination of pieces that our audience loves, this concert celebrates the magic of Christmas and brings people together for a sensational evening of wonderful music.

Tchaikovsky’s elegant Nutcracker Suite leads on from Brahms’ serious Hungarian Dance No. 5, before Strauss II introduces us to the boundless exuberance of the Polish March in his Trisch-Trasch Polka. In the concert’s penultimate work Tchaikovsky transports the evening to the magical halls of snowy Tsarist Russia with a regal waltz from his ballet Sleeping Beauty. The evening reaches its climax with the famous Blue Danube Waltz, not only proving the crowning jewel of a fabulous night’s worth of music, but the coronation of Johann Strauss II as the master of the Viennese waltz.

Programme to include:

Strauss - Die Fledermaus Overture

Strauss - Trisch-Trasch Polka

Tchaikovsky - Sleeping Beauty Waltz

Brahms - Hungarian Dance No. 5

Tchaikovsky - Nutcracker Suite

Strauss - Blue Danube

Frequently asked questions

What time do doors open?

Doors open 30 minutes before the start of the show. The seating in each price band is unreserved, so it's worth coming early. Please note, there is a show immediately before this one.

What should I wear?

We don’t have a specific dress code. We would like our audience to be as comfortable and relaxed as possible to enjoy the performance. Also, some cathedrals don't have the most comfortable of seats! Please feel free to bring a cushion along to sit on for comfort.

Is there a bar?

We have a fully licensed bar which will be open from when doors open. Come and enjoy a wonderful selection of Wines, Soft Drinks and Snacks and take in the ambience of the beautiful setting.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Nearly all of our venues are wheelchair accessible and we can cater to any specific requirements you may have. We endeavour to accommodate everyone at our concerts, so if you have any requests, please do email us at: tickets@candlelightconcerts.co.uk

Can I take photos or videos during the performance?

Yes! We welcome any photos or videos during appropriate moments in the concert and we would love to see them on social media after the show. But please be respectful of those around you and do make sure your flash is turned off before you start filming!

What happens if I'm late?

Latecomers will be allowed to come in and wait by the entrance until a suitable moment in the performance (usually at the end of piece) and can then find a seat. You may not be able to sit in your seating band until a longer break in the performance so as not to disrupt the performance.

Are there any rage restrictions for our performances?

No, not at all! Anyone can attend our concerts and we encourage children to come along! Our performances are a fantastic way to begin a journey into classical music.

Can I get a refund if I can't make it?

Unfortunately, we don't offer refunds, but we will always offer you the option to exchange your tickets to one of our other events, either in the same venue or any other venue in the season! We want you to come and enjoy our exceptional candlelight concerts!

Can I sit with my friends?

All our seating is unreserved in each price band, so the earlier you arrive, the better the seats you'll be able to get. If you're in a larger group, we strongly recommend you arrive early to ensure that you can all sit together.
