We travel across the ocean. We have dreams and come to the UK to study, curiously looking at this new, new world in a completely unfamiliar environment around us.

Everything is different from our home countries, we may pick up the mobile phones or the cameras recording the good views we have seen.

Life is good, every moment we caught, the camera freezes the beautiful memories we had.

For the local audiences, it is a great chance to engage with the students come here from the Far East and have the chance to observe the city from new perspectives.

For the students, we provide this unique opportunity for them to showcase their creativity, talents and imaginations.

VIEWS FROM US: A Photography Exhibition providing a stage for international students to shine their talents, express their emotions, and communicate through the love for this great city and the country.

In many submissions, we have selected three international students’ photography work:

Haojin Zhou, Randy – a second year student of Sports Management at Northumbria University. Hometown: Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, Northwest China.

Shucen Dong, Isabella – a student of MA International Multimedia and Journalism at Newcastle University. Hometown: Dalian, Liaoning Province, Northeast China.

Yihong Li, Lee – a student of MSc Naval Architecture at Newcastle University. Hometown: Xingtai, Hebei Province, North China.

Live music on Exhibition Preview:

Jingren Zheng, Jeff – a Chinese award-winning songwriter, born in 1995, released his first album “If you were Born Alone” at the age of 20, in the same year, he went on a national tour in China. In 2018, he joined the biggest online music production company Netease Music Stone Project and became Modern Sky New Talent Project Musician.

Harry Lewis - a Suffolk born, Newcastle University music degree finalist with a love of song writing. Although predominantly a guitarist, Harry has always had a passion for playing and singing his own original songs and taking on more of a singer-songwriter role in his musical career. The inspiration behind many of his songs are of personal experiences, feelings, and thoughts, using song writing much like a diary or a note pad full self-reflections. Harry’s musical style is a combination of singer-songwriter and pop, but with hints blues and jazz, which come from his passion of guitar based music.
