Description

View, love and buy outstanding contemporary woodturning at the 2018 Competitions & Exhibition Day of the Worshipful Company of Turners.

From the artistic to the incredible; the complex to the classic, every type and style of woodturning will be on display.

This is a one day event held on Tuesday 27 November in the magnificent and spacious setting of Carpenters' Hall in the City of London.

TICKETS

Tickets are free with entry in the:

  • Morning (10am-12 noon)
  • Lunchtime (12 noon - 2pm)
  • Afternoon (2pm to 4pm)

Tickets will also be available on the door, but booking your arrival time in advance through Eventbrite is recommended. If you arrive before or after your selected two hour entry time we will endeavour to admit you to the exhibition as quickly as possible. However, you may have to wait for a while depending on the total number of visitors.

Re-entry is allowed and there is no limit on how long you spend at Carpenters' Hall. The event closes promptly at 4pm, so arriving before 3pm is strongly recommended.

COMPETITIONS

The competitions are the largest in Europe and attract a wide range of entries from amateur and professional woodturners of all ages from across the UK and other countries.

There are over a dozen competitions, which are organised by the Turners’ Company and with the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain, Society of Ornamental Turners and the Association of Pole Lathe Turners and Greenwood Workers.

Special Open Competition: 100th anniversary of the Armistice

This year’s special Open Competition of the Turners’ Company marks the 100th anniversary of the Armistice. Woodturners have been asked to create works which reflect their personal style, techniques and response to the 1918 Armistice and the 100th anniversary on 11th November.

The Turners’ Company competitions are held every two years. The theme of the 2016 Open Competition was the Great Fire of London and it attracted a record number of entries.

At the exhibition on Tuesday 27 November, all the competition entries and winners will be on show along with a curated collections of works by members of the:
