About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

There's an awful lot of science involved on the wine's journey from the vineyard to our glasses, but to make the wine sing: that calls for art, and our artist, the winemaker.

The winemaker must make myriad decisions, from when to harvest the grapes, to even something as seemingly simple as bottling demands decisions and a clear vision. More than just to oak or not to oak, the real craft of wine lies in making these decisions without compromising the energy, balance and clarity of the finished wine.

We have heard winemakers draw parallels to orchestra conductors, teachers, parents, and artists when describing this processes and while it is more scenic to speak of the vineyard than the winemaker it is so often the character of the winemaker that is the decisive factor in making a great wine.

Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 wines on a theme, and bread, cheese and charcuterie is provided to match with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
