You are invited to join Victoria Price on a fully-escorted coach tour to Nicholas Canyon Beach in Malibu, California on Sunday November 13th 2016 for a very special Remembrance Service in honour of her father, the iconic actor and art lover Vincent Price.
ABOUT THE TOUR
Just a few days short of Halloween in October 1993, Vincent Price died at the age of 82 at his home in the Hollywood Hills. His ashes were scattered by his family off at Nicholas Canyon Beach in Malibu, California. This was a very special place for the actor and art-lover, as it was here that he spent most weekends with his family.
Price’s love of this part of the Californian coastline began as long back as the early 1940s when he rented a house in Malibu. During the 1960s, Mary and Vincent Price built a home on Nicholas Beach, where Vincent lived following their divorce. It remained in the Price family until the early-1970s when re-zoning laws saw his property being acquired by the Government and the land turned into a public beach.
Vincent’s daughter, Victoria Price, a well known public speaker and writer who is also an interfaith/interspiritual minister, will lead a special remembrance service in honour of her father at the beach he loved so much. This service will center around many of the beachcombing rituals that he adored — looking for seashells and moonstone, tidepool hunting, driftwood collecting, and stone skipping. Guests will be asked to bring something small to contribute to the remembrance sculpture, made of all natural materials, which we will find and construct together on the beach. This will be a very special day together.
On our return to LA (via LAX), we will also visit nearby Point Dume State Beach, best known to film fans as the site of the climactic scene in 1968’s Planet of the Apes, in which Charlton Heston came face-to-face with a Statue of Liberty in ruins; while also being famous for appearing in the pilot episode of I Dream of Jeannie, and most recently the location of Tony Stark’s residence in the Iron Man movies. Vincent and Victoria also both appeared in a small scene shot here for a TV movie. Vincent’s biggest passions were not only art and food, but also fun fairs, especially old-fashioned roller coasters, and Santa Monica Pier was one of Vincent’s all-time favourite destinations (as well as its forerunner, Ocean Park). So we shall also visit this iconic location, should time permit.
The driving route will be “narrated” by Victoria and tour co-host Peter Fuller, peppered with lots of Hollywood history and Vincent anecdotes. A truly memorable experience…
