About this event

Love anything vintage, retro & recycled? Want to get creative and learn how to make an incredible piece of collage art by using old paper materials? If the answer is yes, join me for a 2.5 hour masterclass in making your own vintage collage!

You’ll be shown how to:

  • Work with different old paper materials such as vintage books, magazines, postcards etc. (There will be all sorts of themes such as old national geographics, childrens comics, fashion magazines, kitschy cook books and so on.)
  • How to make an image selection for your own piece
  • How to construct a collage so it becomes one cohesive piece of art
  • Different layering techniques and collage tips
  • optional: how to spice it up with glitters!

What exactly will we do?

We'll be making a piece of art from papers - maybe you want to keep it yourself, maybe you're making it for a lovely friend or family member. You can bring your personal pictures if you'd like to include these in your piece!

What's included?

  • 2.5 hours of tips & tricks, guidance with sourcing images, cutting, puzzle'ing and creating your artwork
  • All the available vintage paper materials for you to make your collage with
  • You'll get a white picture mount to frame your artwork and take it home in! (pick between A3 and A4)
  • Coffee or tea, water and snacks!
  • A take home collage flyer full of tips & tricks

Location

The workshop is at Native Bankside - just minutes from the Thames, a lovely Central London location that is peaceful though around the corner of the buzzing Borough Market! The venue allows BYOB which means you can bring your own drinks/food if you'd like to.

Please bring a bag with you that can hold an A3 size artwork! (any tote bag or supermarket plastic bag would work).

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any creative experience?

Nope, you can be an absolute beginner and don't need any creative or craft experience!

Can I come alone?

Absolutely! There's plenty of people who come solo. It's a welcoming space so you might start chatting with your neighbour, but can also use the workshop as quality time for yourself. We often have small groups of friends joining, couples (and even first dates!), but also family relations.

Can my child join?

Anyone 13+ years old can join, as we're working with adult scissors and craft knives this class is not suitable for the younger kids. I do ask that anyone under 16 years old is accompanied by a legal adult.

Do I need to have a concept or collage idea?

Not at all! You don’t need to know what you’ll be making - your idea will develop during the class and I’ll be there to help with that too. Having that said, some people do have an idea or make something for a particular room in their house (e.g a collage for a nursery) or to gift to a friend.
