Vinyasa Yoga
If you think yoga is slow and boring, you haven’t practiced Vinyasa!
Vinyasa means "breath-synchronized movement," and Vinyasa yoga is a series of poses that flow through the power of inhaling and exhaling. Vinyasa exercises are smoothly and flowing which is why it is often referred to as Vinyasa Flow or just Flow yoga.
Generally speaking, upward movements correlate with inhalations of the breath, and downward movements with exhalations.
The continual movements, from one pose to another, gives you an added cardiovascular benefit, which more traditional forms of yoga do not have.
The routine practice of vinyasa yoga can increase muscle strength, endurance and flexibility, and reduce levels of stress.
This is a dynamic, flowing yoga practice. All classes start with sun salutations to warm up then move through a variety of strength and flexibility building postures, ending with some well-earned relaxation.
Vinyasa is also the term used to describe a specific sequence of poses (Chaturanga (plank) to Upward-Facing Dog to Downward-Facing Dog) commonly used throughout a vinyasa class.
