About the training

Equally Safe at Work is an employer accreditation programme enabling employers to advance gender equality and prevent violence against women. It was developed by Close the Gap, Scotland’s expert policy and advocacy organisation working on women’s inequality in the labour market.

As part of Equally Safe at Work, Close the Gap is delivering training on violence against women (VAW) to a sample of line managers. The intention of this training is to build understanding and awareness on VAW and how it impacts women’s experience at work. The training will cover the following topics:

  • What is VAW?
    • Different forms of VAW
    • Signs of VAW
    • The impact on the workplace
  • The link between VAW, women’s labour market inequality and gender equality
  • Best practices in responding to disclosure of reports of VAW
    • Support and protecting victim-survivors
    • Safety planning and risk assessments
    • How to have conversations about VAW
    • What not to say to someone who has disclosed or reported VAW
