Understanding violence and strengthening practice

About this Event

Good Morning ,

On April 6th we are inviting those working directly with children, young people and young adults, who at risk of or are involved in violence in Kent and Medway to join academics and leaders to understand the evidence and effective methods to prevent violence.

Developed as part of the ‘ Making Kent and Medway ACE Aware Programme’, in partnership with the University of Kent and with funding from Kent and Medway’s Violence Reduction Unit, the event will include keynote speeches by Prof David Shemmings, on trauma bonds, Dr Jenny Lloyd, on contextual safeguarding and Dr Warren Larkin, on systems which are trauma informed.

The event will include workshops involving the National Children’s Bureau, Medway Council, Kent Police , the Violence Reduction Unit , HeadStart Kent and NELFT. These will be of interest to those working in Youth and Community work, Education, Social Care, the Police, Mental Health and Community Safety. Those working in the Community and Voluntary Sector are particularly welcome.

The event will take place at the University of Kent , Pilkington Building

We anticipate that this conference will be oversubscribed. To ensure that we achieve effective multiple sector attendance from agencies across Kent and Medway , we will respond by 6th March 2020 and confirm your place.

REGISTER YOUR PLACE BY 6TH MARCH2020 TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT.
