Masterclass 1: North East communities post Brexit and the continuing pandemic, Tuesday 30th November 2021, 10am-12pm

Masterclass 2: Women in Leadership, Wednesday 15th December 2021, 10am-12pm

Masterclass 1: North East communities post Brexit and the continuing pandemic delivered by GLT Partners

We are delighted to welcome Dame Julia Unwin, DBE FAcSS, Chair of the Independent Inquiry into the Future of Civil Society 2017-2019 and ex Chief Executive of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation as our Guest Speakers. Joining Julia will be Dr Henry Kippin, Managing Director of the North of Tyne Combined Authority.

Our country has gone through a seismic change over the past few years. We have seen our society divided by the Brexit vote. We have witnessed the George Floyd murder and the Black Lives Matter movement. We are living through the worst pandemic in living memory. Yet we continue to grow in resilience. ‘We live in a time of change, a time of enormous upheaval – and a time of unprecedented opportunity’ Civil Society Futures.

Join our expert speakers to discuss:

  • What does the national picture look like?
  • What did we learn from the Civil Society Futures Independent Inquiry?
  • What’s different about the North East and why?
  • What would we like to see happen next?
  • What role do we have to play in this?

Masterclass 2: Women in Leadership delivered by GLT Partners

This Masterclass will focus on what leadership means for women in 2021. We'll explore the current opportunities for us all, the impact of concepts such as intersectionality and trauma and the role of diverse allies in driving change.

We're delighted to welcome three women at the top of their game as our Guest Speakers: Adrienne Kelbie CBE, Speaker, Coach and Consultant, former two-times Patron of Women in Nuclear; Faustina Fynn-Nyame, Executive Director for Africa, Children's Investment Fund Foundation and Professor Sharon Mavin, Professor of Leadership and Organisation Studies, Newcastle University.

The business case for diversity and inclusion is stronger than ever. McKinsey’s 2019 analysis found that companies in the top quartile for gender diversity on executive teams were 25 percent more likely to have above-average profitability than companies in the fourth quartile—up from 21 percent in 2017 and 15 percent in 2014. The greater the representation, the higher the likelihood of outperformance. What does this mean for us leaders regardless of our gender identity?

Join us for a challenging and inspiring discussion covering:

    • What leadership means for women in 2021.
    • The current opportunities for us all.
    • The impact of concepts such as intersectionality and trauma.
    • How women leaders can help increase diversity.
    • The role of diverse allies in driving change.
